There’s been a buzz of excitement in the Today’s Quilter offices today! Tune in to Sewing Quarter TV tomorrow to see a live demo of Laura Pritchard’s Starry, Starry Night quilt, and get tips on how to piece your own version of this wonderful wintry project.
Tune in tomorrow morning at 9am to see Great British Sewing Bee winner Charlotte Newland demo how to sew Laura’s wintry cover quilt from our brand new issue! Laura’s quilt is a joy to sew with strip piecing to speed up the diamond blocks and foundation piecing for the star shapes. Charlotte will be sharing tips for how to piece diamonds and stars that pop, and revealing details of how to get your hands on our exclusive new quilt kits for this project!
Also this week!
Mandy Shaw will be live in the Studio this weekend, with 2 hours of Christmas sewing projects this Saturday 10th November. She’ll start the day at 8am by sharing her brand new Mayhem Redwork Wreath pattern (make it as a cushion or hoop wall art!), then at 10am she’s back with her Redwork Gnome pattern, holly and ivy cushion kit and a festive doll.

We got to chat to fan-favourite presenter John Scott back when Sewing Quarter launched last year…
Presenter Q&A: Meet John Scott
When did your passion for fabric begin?
I worked with fabrics while making costumes in theatre. As Costume Supervisor on Interview with the Vampire I would shop for fabrics with the uber-talented Costume Designer Sandy Powell. Her innate sense of colour and texture totally left me in awe.
Which colours and patterns are you naturally drawn to?
I love the patterns of Asia and colour clashing. If Mother Nature puts two colours together then it’s alright for me to do so too! I adore Liberty Tana Lawn. When I cut the ladies’ dresses for the National tour of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers they were made from Liberty fabric. I was in 7th heaven!
Is there a particular quilting technique you’d like to learn?
Ever since I can remember I have had patchwork quilts on my bed; now I have one in all my bedrooms but have never made one. There are so many quilting styles so I feel I’m going to be very busy learning them all!
