With their fabulous array of 57 tones, Vendulka Battais used Oakshott Fabrics’ Colourshott range to make her Cathedral Windows quilt (pictured below) and cushions in issue 47’s booklet. It’s an ideal choice for experimenting with colour and creating palettes from the colour wheel. Whether it’s complementary or contrasting, calming or exciting, you’ll find the perfect palette in Colourshotts to match your creative colour dreams.
Oakshott’s trademark ‘shot’ effect, where the colour appears to shimmer and ‘move’ in the light, is created by selecting a base colour warp thread and marrying it with a complementary or contrasting weft thread. Some collections share a common weft thread, making them particularly easy to mix, match and tone to stunning effect. Collections are designed entirely in-house, so every shade is unique to Oakshott.
Woven from the finest grade shot cottons, the fibres in Oakshott’s fabrics are gas mercerised for a smooth, lustrous finish, then two-ply yarns are densely woven to provide strength and achieve a quality fabric that holds its shape. Free from dressing, the drape and handle remains unchanged over time. Plus, all Oakshott fabrics are 54in wide – that’s up to 23 percent wider than ‘standard’, so cut lengths and pre-cut packs provide a surprising amount of fabric.
We’ve teamed up with Oakshott Fabrics to give away a £100 voucher to one lucky reader this month to spend at www.oakshottfabrics.com – just think of all the lovely charm packs, FQ bundles and patterns you could buy with that! Enter here. Good luck everyone!
