“A lush, rampant paradise where nature and its creatures are left to themselves – that’s how I want my garden to be. My thoughts often stray in that direction and unique summer creations are inspired by my garden dreams.”
This quote from Gudrun Sjödén has got us thinking about how nature motifs (and flowers especially) play such a big part in the quilt designs we love and feature in Today’s Quilter magazine. Our latest issue 23 alone features a Dancing with Daisies cover quilt, foundation paper-pieced wild flower quilt blocks and appliqué flowers that wow! It seems as quilters, we’re not alone in turning to the natural world for inspiration…
We’ve been following the work of eco-friendly fashion & homewares brand Gudrun Sjödén for a while now as we love their colour choices and folksy designs. They’ve just announced a new summer collection and it’s giving our quilt colour plans quite the boost.
Creating a botanical paradise from fabric!
Gudrun’s hotly anticipated summer capsule collection launched this week, packed full of bold and graphic patterns in breezy organic cotton. The new range offers the chance to explore a lush, verdant world, with photos shot in the French Camargue and designs inspired by flowering Agave trees, fragrant Rosemary bushes and towering cypresses. This botanical paradise has been distilled into two patterns; Vilda and Eden, explore them over at www.gudrunsjoden.com.

To celebrate the new collection, Gudrun Sjödén are hosting a welcome event at their London store for everyone to pop in and take a look. They’re promising a high spirited afternoon, where you can experience a classic Swedish cake party, have your portrait sketched by colourful artist Rose Popay and take a look at the freshly launched new collection.
